Jaiden Solo, a 12-year-old kart racer from Hertfordshire, has always had a need for speed. From a young age, he was fascinated by cars and motorsport, watching races and dreaming of being behind the wheel himself. Inspired by racing legends like Lewis Hamilton, Jaiden first got a taste of karting at Rye House Raceway in 2016 when he was just four years old – the very same track where Hamilton himself began his journey.
Although his first karting experience was brief, the fire had been lit. It wasn’t until 2021, at the age of nine, that Jaiden began racing regularly, honing his skills at indoor circuits like TeamWorks in Letchworth and TeamSport in Watford. His natural ability was clear from the start, and he rapidly progressed through the ranks of the TeamSport Cadet Academy. In his very first year of competitive racing, he made it all the way to the regional finals of the British Indoor Karting Championship (BIKC), finishing 4th overall – an impressive feat for a newcomer.
With a solid foundation in indoor karting, Jaiden was eager for the next challenge. He took on the world of outdoor racing by competing in the Global Karting League (GKL), an electric kart series previously known as Total Karting Zero. Over two seasons, he gained valuable experience racing against top young drivers, refining his race craft and developing the strategic mindset needed to compete at higher levels.
In 2024, Jaiden and his mum, Sarah Solo, took a big step forward, forming their own independent owner-driver team. Racing in the Honda Cadet category with the Access Karting series, Jaiden made an immediate impact. In his very first race as an owner-driver, he was awarded 4 Stroke Driver of the Day, setting the tone for what would be an incredible season.
Throughout 2024, Jaiden collected numerous podium finishes and capped off the year with two major achievements: he became Vice Champion of the Access Karting GX-UK Cadet Championship and was also awarded the prestigious Moral Fibre Moment award for his outstanding sportsmanship.
Now, at 12 years old, Jaiden is taking on his biggest challenge yet – moving up to the Junior category. In 2025, he is competing in the Access Karting 100-UK Junior TKM class, making the transition from 4-stroke to the high-speed world of 2-stroke racing. This new challenge marks an exciting next chapter in his journey, as he continues to push himself, develop his skills, and chase even greater success on the track.
Jaiden’s journey so far has been nothing short of incredible, and with his talent, determination, and the unwavering support of his family, there’s no doubt that his racing career is only just beginning. Keep an eye on this rising star – the best is yet to come!
